A turbo is nice. But, I'd rather be blown...
Roots-type super charger might rob a little of the power. But, it don't have the "Turbo-Lag" issue to deal with...
Jeff, anytime you supercharge the intake, the bottom end on just about anything needs to be strong enough to take the extra charge when the ignition fires the fuel. Because what you're doing is packing more fuel and air into the cylinder. When the spark ignites it, you've got a much bigger explosion. Real hard on the bottom end. Don't care what kind of engine it is...
Most of the big Diesels (Cat, Cummins Detroit, etc.) have been designed for the extra loads of super-chargers.

No... I have better ways to spend that kind of $$...I met a guy with a 99 Fat Boy at Americade a few years ago that had a Turbo kit on it...He said you have to keep the boost real low if you have a stock engine or you will destroy it in short order...You also had turbo lag back then...Great way to get awesome power though...I would love to pilot one...LOL...

| Makes some big hp for sure... since the power is not being made thru the stroke, but thru the exhaust, then I guess the stock bottom and top end could take it. In theory though the hp is being doubled so it does seem that would create a need for a stronger bottom end... too high tech for my little shade tree skills......LOL!

I came across this a little while back, anyone ever thought about putting a turbo on their bike? Seems like they would have something to toughen up the bottom end before adding that much power.
