I figured your FXR was basically the same as mine. Oil filter mount bolts up to the bottom of the transmission. I knew that the later model Softails and Dynas had it out front like that...

Didn't know yours was set up like that too...

dave my filter  is in front of the cyl above the voltage reg. long time ago i started cuttin 1 liter pop bottles in 1/2, slip it under the filter and the oil runs down the bottle into  a pan on the ground. avoids all that oil on the motor mount , v reg (ect). cheap to. :D

Necessity is the mother of invention Marc. It was just a matter of time. Old neighbor had a Softail and the oil filter was mounted on under the front cylinder. Easy to get at. But, I can imagine the mess when it comes time to change filters...
Not only the mess, that oil is hard on rubber motor mounts
