Would love to find one at a price I could easily afford (and talk the OL into) I backed out of that deal completely...

Just reread this Steve...

Got some serious doubts on it now...
That's probably a good idea, metal fatigue is a bitch and unpredictable.  I had a few pickup frame issues on a 66 GMC I straightened out years ago.

Ok I'll jump in here..........The 91 Evo FLH and Dave's 87 FXR are similar in the frame layout. Where the problem comes in is the trans. Let me do some checking and I'll let you know if that FXR trans will work in the FLH frame with the FXR primary setup.

Doesn't sound like too bad of a deal Dave, just a little timid about salvage titles and what happened to the bike to make it "salvage".

Update>>>>>>  1987-1989 FXR and FLH used the same Trans case. 1990-1994 FXR and FLH used the same Trans cases. The major difference that I can see is the starter setup. Delkron makes an adapter to fix the starter issue.

Dave It looks like it will fit. But at the price of after market motors and Trans's or the used stuff on Ebay I 'd consider just buying another engine and trans to put in the bagger and keep the FXR has is......Plus resale wise the FXR is worth more money than the bagger............

Yeah, I'm sorta leaning in that direction Jeff. As long as the title is otherwise clean, I don't really care if its a salvage title. I plan on keepin' the bike.

I asked for more info and pictures. He may only live 80-100 miles from here. But, I don't want to waste time and money if I don't like what I see in the pictures or the info doesn't support what he's tryin' to sell...

Not a bad price even though it does have a salvage title if you plan on keeping it the title really is not a big deal...  JMO     At least worth a look to check it all out and make sure your motor and drive train will mount up..

I got a line a rolling chassis for 91 "Electra-Glide", No engine, No transmission and a salvage title. I have no idea right now what the alphabet soup designation on the bike is. Just know what I said. Owner says that the bike has been wrecked and fixed, rides straight when you take your hands off the bars.

Is only about 80-100 miles from here, says I can take it for a ride before he pulls the drive-train. I haven't even seen pictures of it yet. So, I have no idea just yet what is included (Bags, Fairing, etc.) I know, I know...

Anyway, he's lookin' to get $2500.00 for it.

I'm thinkin' I can gut the drive-train out of my FXR and swap it all in. Both are rubber-mounts...

Thoughts?
