Saw this and started reading about some of you guys storys and reunions and lost friends and found it to be interesting.   Kinda know what you mean about grey beards and feeling older.. Missed my 25th class reunion in '05 but did make the 20th back in '99.   I'm only 45 but it don't seem like I ought to be that old even.  LOL   Time sure goes by fast these days..

dont want the gray beard to show to much, but went to a 45 th class reunion last mo. most of the guys who are still around made it to retirement. one kid i really missed was a guy we called paunch, i got out before he was drafted and rode with him for a summer. killed in vietnam, trying to save guys from a crashed helo.tha army gave his OL a silver star. B F D. guess thats one of the reasons im not a big fan of presadents who start sensless wars.

I would assume, now that I am approaching 50, my old friends that have not changed their habits will start dying off.  I remember them as they were, the laughs we shared, and the adventures faced turning into adults.  Many decided it was better to continue on with drugs and alcohol, than face reality.  I guess that is why Johnny hung himself.  A couple others loved booze more than themselves...they are gone.  I only had one friend die of natural causes...he got a sliver of treated wood in his hand, and I guess it turned to cancer.  I have had many weird ailments too....but just am glad to make it this far down the road.  I look back with a bit of amazement....driving my scooter and not being able to read the speedo on many party nights just tells me I was lucky. Not getting in trouble was also luck.....I guess my wife saved me there.  Life was not as predictable when young and wild......everyday was an adventure and a new journey.  Today, I can tell you what I am going to do daily, weekly, monthly, etc., it is OK, but not like being 18.

A couple years ago one of my friends hung himself on new years eve.  He was on crack......name was johnny, and he was a good wrench with a Shovel. Another buddy went blind from that shit.  Several others had misfortunes.

It was fun in the 70's, but became deadly in the later years.

Most of ya'all know I spent the weekend in KC a couple of weeks ago. Even talked to the ex-OL. Found out about some of my "old friends". Most of 'em dead from either sucide or drugs...Spooky shit boys and girls. Glad I bailed when I did. The writing was on the wall...

R.I.P.
Bobby - Big-assed Irish-Samoan (With a big heart) that was truely, loyal friend. A real "Bro". Served 3 tours in Viet Nam, Army Special Forces...

John - Just a Big-hearted guy. That was fun to hang out with.
