Nope.. No guesses from me Babe...

As for what Carl had to say, I agree with him on at least one thing. I too, am in love the past. Life in the 70s for me. I turned 10 in 1968. So, I was still a little kid back then.

I love the late-60s muscle cars, my friends and I would fantasize about owning a Hemi-Cuda or a Big-Block Mustang. Into the 70s, they coulda been had really cheap. Kick myself in the ass for walkin' away from a '71 Hemi Roadrunner, or the '70 Ford Torino with a CobraJet (4-speed) and a couple of other really sweet cars... All for under $2000.00 (back then) All are worth a fortune today. Ended up with a '67 Mustang coupe (HiPo 289 & 4-speed)

I love the music of the era too. Like I said in another tread, I love Doo-Wop music. But, there still ain't nothin' better to me than a good run of Pink Floyd from the 70s.

Times were simpler (for me) back then. Love to think back on those times. I do that fondly and catch hell from my OL when I bring it up...LOL...

Today, life is complicated, and every day is predictable.  I was expecting more out of midlife.....unemployment and health concerns were virtually invisible to me as a young adult.  Today, both are clearly in front of me on a daily basis.  About the closest thing to an adventure is the feeling of "What's next?" This is more like a misadventure. When I regress to the 60's, I think about the good things.....we all know bad events occured then, but it is pointless to think about them.  I do my best to think about the good things in the present too, and not dwell on the bad. I can't change the bad things in the world...war, poverty, social distruction.  A song like Aquarius gives us a couple minutes of escape.  Contrast that song to a rap song about gang banging.....the primitive behavior of violence seems to be surrounding us.

Not sure if Prince was an actual rider.
But, they did show him on a Goldwing in a video, a LONG time ago...

GOC wrote: Prince is Prince again?  Someone told me he changed his name to a color!   Here is what I recall the sequence to be:

1) Roger (the black guy with a band from South Minneapolis (my neighborhood)

2) Roger "Prince" followed the single named singers like "Cher"

3) "The Symbol"  Kind of Egyption??

4) The singer formerly known as Prince.......(people couldn't grasp the weird symbol......his Vincent Van Gogh stage I guess

5) Back to "Prince"  a more marketable name, only to be confused with Prince Charles.....

6) "The Color"  I think he then changed to "The Color"   I believe his marketing team felt something unique like the artist know as "Purple" would sell records???

7) Back to Prince?  I thought he was going to be known as "Fragrant"  I can't keep track of his changes..

From Roger to Prince to Symbol to Prince to color to fragrance back to Prnice. Seems like he missed the other sensory element...The artist known as "Sound"

I guess at my age keeping track of the pop fartests iis like keeping track of my wallet or keys.

I give up on Prince........he is a name chameleon.

EDIT: oh yeah, he was also referring to himself for a few months as "The Artist"  Guess that was an important factoid to reference.

I don't care what y'all say, that shit right there is funny.

OK Dave....

That is interesting.  Kidding aside, I think whatever he calls himself is a talented musician.  He is not unique, but is ok to listen to.

Didn't he have a guitar like his symbol?

Also, anybody that can escape the crutches of poverty in South Minneapolis is a person to admire.

By the way, I never cared for his taste in motorcycles.....I believe he had a purple Goldwing. Don't know if he ever road it, as it could have been a prop for his 'Purple Rain" stage.  In Minnesota there is a fascination with the color purple.....
