| I recall sometime back when I was in high school gas hit $1.00 per gal and so did cigerettes... There was widespread pandamonium,,,, LOL!! Who would not gladly be willing to pay a buck now for gas or smokes.. Hindsight is always 20/20

I have always hesitated to jump start the bike. Too much of a chance of burning up the regulator or stator. Better safe than sorry...
I do know that jumping from a car battery, the car should not be running. But, I still don't like doin' it...

Ya might wanna try putting a jump on it next time ya cold start it, that way you can tell if it is the battery without guessing.

I don't know, thinkin' on just stayin' with Dino. Easier to get if I need a quart. I don't have the storage on the bike to carry a spare. This smells like it could turn into a Dino Vs. Syn debate...
Never thought about leaks or weeping though the cases. Everything I've read sorta says that the cases should be ok. The worst of the ones that weep are later, I think I read around 1989 and up to about 1992 or something like that. I don't remember. Just know the worst ones were later than mine and pre-Twinkie...
EDIT -BTW - Almost 500 miles and I've only added half a quart of oil. I had leaky rocker-boxes and since I topped it off after they were fixed, no more leaks. So, it's holdin' oil a LOT better than it was...

Had that problem with a 5 year old battery once...Replaced it and no more problems...Just a thought... Bet with the new rebuild you now have tighter tolerances, and making that starter work a little harder, thus need a more powerful battery, just a thought.

But when you change your oil, you might consider synthetic 20w50 it might make an easier pull on the starter is what I'm thinking possibly? you might get away with synthetic in a evo since its a new rebuild , but that engine wasnt made for synthetic like the tc,s . 02

Yeah, it runs great!! Only possible issue I might have (and I ain't sure if it is an issue yet) is the starter when the bike cold and hasn't been started that day, is a bit sluggish. Get the feeling that it ain't gonna be enough to fire the bike. Once the bike is warm, fires off real quick with no problem.
Otherwise, I'm lookin' at gettin' the break-in oil out of it in the next week or so. Had it on the freeway a few times now. Always below 70 and under 3000 rpm. Runs great and has plenty of pull...
