steve probably will have a better idea than me ,but , if that vent is pluged when that piston comes into the cranke case that air has got to go someplace , a push rod tube is a path of least resistance.

It is interesting Weasle. My Evo does vent out the crankcase as I have a hose and filter hanging underneath the bike. Its weird why all of a sudden the push rods are venting.... I am gonna pm Steve and find out his take on it too...

jeff i really dont think the push rods are the problem a ev 27 isnt that much bigger than stock , and your stock push rods will handle that cam no problem .evo,s vent crank case pressure through the push rods on, i think 94,s and up . your crank vent could be , pluged as 93 and older vent out the crank case itself. ya got me curious to cause ive never heard of a evo doing what yours is doing .

Yes, its because of my EV27 cam that I might need adjustables to compensate for the bigger cam duration.

Also, the only problem I am encountering is primarily at start up - I am getting a popping noise from the upper push rod area... It does not appear to be any kind of blown gasket problem, although, why else would there be this popping air vapor discharge that I can actually see with fast revs with the throttle ? I need to take it out to Tinker and let him see it.... Bike runs great, and sounds fine other than what I've stated at start up. Not too worried about, but I do want to fix it. If somethings not exactly right it drives me crazy. LOL!

jeff the stock push rods in a evo engine are self adjusting hydrolic , im with dave a set of adjustables is not a good investment, unles you plan to make engine mods over a period of time .are you sure you have each push rod in the right location , they are color coded for proper placement.

IMO Jeff - If you have a stock cam and haven't done anything else to the innards of your engine, adjustables are a PITA. Stock, non-adjustables, work just fine...

But, if ya got your heart set on a set of adjustables, go for it. In my experience, you're always gonna hear a tick or something that will bug the hell out of you and have you adjustin' 'em over an' over...

Might wanna measure the non-adjustables before you use 'em. I do believe they are color coded for each location...

I think what I am going to have to do is cut out the stock rods....I should have just used the old push rods instead of putting in new $6. stock non adjustable ones. They may very well be just bit longer than my old rods were. So, gonna put in a set of adjustable push rods asap...

your right dave their are 2 o rings at either end of the push rod tubes , but they are not actually in the rocker box, but in the tube itself.

Seems like there should be O-Rings at either end of the push-rod tubes...

I may have screwed 'em up once or twice after a valve adjustment...

looked at one of my books , the only o rings i see are under the head gaskets jeff. if thats where its leaking you gonna have a big job you,ll have to pull the heads . i hope thats not the problem .

jeff where does the air go ? carb? out the rocker gasket ? i tore mine apart a few yrs back and i dont remeber a 0 ring in their, their are i think 4 gaskets and the umbella valve as i recall. if the umbrella valve is bad you,ll have a bunch of oil in the air filter. good luck with it , let me know what ya find.

My no 1 push rod looking left to right has apparently got a broken o ring up in the rocker box. Air spits out when the motor is cold with quick revs to the throttle. Going to ck it out in the morning. Got the day off.
